I really like the CLASSIC food tin QRP kits FROM THE 70S, as you MIGHT already know, which is why I designed the Cento Receivo as my 3rd 2024 LIVE streamed Buildathon kit in CENTO anchovy tin! In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful tins currently on the food shelves!
So the 2025 HamXposition QRP Buildathon kit will be the Cento Receivo 40m direct conversion receiver kit! Another feature of this kit is that there is very little soldering involved in building this kit. All the components simply plug into SIP (single in-line pin) sockets....which allows for a quick build with a minimal set of tools.
I will have SPARE tools but not enough for everybody....so bring what kit building tools you have. A decent iron or station, small flush cutters would be useful but not absolutely necessary. Needle nose pliers and a small flat blade screwdriver are essential build tools for this Buildathon. Bring "em if you got "em but I will have extras! A portable battery operated work light, hand magnifier or head visor if your vision requires augmentation are always nice to have in those typical poorly lit convention rooms. Please let me know in advance if you require a soldering iron in order for me to have enough for those in need....
