Several years ago, QRPers in the Seattle area got in on the fun and organized Salmoncon. We have been coordinating our events each year with a featured activity of trying to contact each other. For information on the Pacific QRP club and their event see: PQRP      Last year, QRPme had issued the challenge for other QRP clubs & groups around the country to hold a QRP gathering sometime during 'The Lobstercon Weekend'. Three groups answered the challenge.

The Midwest Homebrewers from the Lincoln/Omaha Nebraska area held an event on Saturday. See: Midwest Homebrewers

Some pesky Texans held an event on Saturday. For info on their event see: ArmadilloCon

A newly formed QRP group in central Florida put together Gatorcon down in Orlando. Check out Kelly's webpage for further info: Gatorcon
Or send and E-mail to: gatorcon09@k4upg.com

News:

1.) Dates are July 9, 10 & 11 2010  I have confirmed the dates with the campground and that there is no problem with campers coming early. We had quite a few show up on Thursday and even N1RX on Wednesday. It is official that next year, early camping is OK, and I hope to be doing it myself!

2,) Lobstercon will have its own website soon:  << www.Lobstercon.me >>
has been purchased and as soon as I have some time, 2009 (and possibly previous years) info will be found there.

3.) I have started a new discussion group  4DIJ-L, 4 days in July, for everyone interested in Lobstercon & Salmoncon to network and stay up to date. Check out the info page and sign up. General information about the mailing list is at:

To post to this list, send your email to (after you sign up of course):

            <<  4dij-l@mailman.qth.net >>

4.) You can also tune in to the latest updates at the Lobstercon blog:

                <<  http://blog.lobstercon.me >>

5.) I have engaged some musicians and a caller to hold another Contradance on Saturday night. We had a great time several years ago when we had the first one so we are going to do it again!

6.) From the subject line: others, plural, meaning more than 1. I will be actively promoting the idea of other QRP groups camping out the same weekend for additional QRP signal snatching fun.  QRP groups all over the country camping out,  signals flying around everywhere, Qs being made, a real movement underfoot!   Now we need a groups in say Idaho, Iowa, New Jersey and Massachusetts to start Spudcon, Corncon, CranberrySaucecon & BostonCremePiecon and we can have a QRP feast in July, So you might want to get in on the ground floor with the 4DIJ-L (thats: 4 Days in July) discussion list. Probably (& hopefully) won't be a BIG high traffic list,  just a solid group interested in QRPing & camping that single weekend in July.

I guess that is all for now. Please stay tuned for more.
See you there!   W1REX
