It is finally here....
(Actually the Tuna Helper kit was introduced at Hamcom in Plano!)

The tuna can kit that everyone has been waiting for....

QRPme's Tuna Helper

The Tuna Helper kit is an RF sensing automatic T/R switch. Connect your antenna, transmitter and receiver to the Tuna Helper and add 12 volt power. The Tuna Helper takes care of the rest. Key your transmitter and the RF signal is detected by the Tuna Helper and the antenna is automatically switched to the transmitter. When the key is released longer than a user selected time, the Tuna Helper switches the antenna back to your receiver. The user can select between 2 separate key up times. The Tuna Helper kit comes with all the parts sealed inside a personal sized tuna can. Open the can to get the parts, build up the circuit board and then mount it back on the can like all our other tuna can kits. Ideal for use with QRPme's Two Tinned Tunas or SUPER Tuna transmitters and the Sudden Storm or Rexwood 1000W receiver kits. The SUPER Tuna Transmitter Kit
Super Tuna kit image

Here is the latest and greatest from QRPme. The SUPER Tuna Transmitter Kit is a QRP experimenter's dream. The main features are: quick change band modules, 1+ watts of
easily adjustable RF output power, built in dummy load and RF power measurement probe circuit which outputs to a DVM and an expansion location for either a Picokeyer or Picaxe microprocessor daughter-board. Another interesting feature is QRPme's twin tin template. The kit comes with a round tuna tin sized board. The basic components are configured inside a 2 5/8" x 1 15/16" rectangular section sized for installing inside an Altoids tin.  The 'wings' are scored, allowing them to be snapped off thereby making the board the right size for fitting inside the Altoids tin. All electronics parts come sealed inside a brand new tuna can with colorfull label.  Each band module kit contains a circuit board, crystal and all capacitors, toroids and magnet wire for operation at a specific band/frequency.
Price:  $35.00
includes 1 band module of your choice
additional band modules are $10.00 each

frequencies available are: 3.54579, 3.560, 3.6864, 7.028, 7.030, 7.040, 10.116 and 14.060

Attention all SUPER Tuna Transmitter builders!

Andy, M5ALA, reports that a couple of errors in the OLD documentation results in a SUPER Tuna that is not so super in operation due to low output power. Values given for C17 are actually for C18 and visa versa. Please check the current documentation and schematic in the SUPER Tuna section below to make sure your SUPER Tuna is operating as super as it can........

Two Tinned Tunas Kit ][
Current TTT design

This is the NEW E-Z build version of the TTT kit!

The
Two Tinned Tunas ][ (TTT) kit is the latest updated version of the classic TT2 kit designed by W1FB, Doug Demaw. The TT2 transmitter has been kitted by several QRP clubs in the past. This current version is a COMPLETE kit; whereas, the previous versions required additional parts scrounging for connectors, switch etc. This kit comes COMPLETE with all PCB mounted parts: transistors, capacitors, resistors, connectors, crystals, crystal socket and key jack. Step by step assembly instructions, with Hi-res pictures are available below. The current label design is shown on the above picture. All the parts come sealed inside a factory fresh tuna can with an easy open pull top lid. This kit is designated as the EZ build version as there are no toroids to wind and no more off-board connections to make down in the can. Pads traces and clearances are large making it an excellent kit for beginners. It is significantly easier and faster to build than previous versions making it an excellent kit for club builds and build-a-thons. It also makes a perfect gift. Can be assembled in one evening by a 'beginner'. A great conversation piece for every QRPer's bench!

Assembled Reggie
Reggie][ Kit
Here is QRPme's version of the Reggie, the minimalist tranceiver by Michael Rainey AA1TJ. This kit is NOT for beginners! It requires some planning and mechanical skills to finish and install in a case. Power output is typically less than 100 milliwatts so it is not an ideal kit to use as your main station. It is intended as a great little kit if you want to dabble in the minimalist radio craze. Build it Limerick construction style where the pads & traces are etched on a set of single sided boards with silk screen & solder mask. Four small easy to build modules are then glued to a bare copper board and then interconnected to complete the project. Limerick construction boards are great for making changes and experimenting as you can change parts without trying to suck solder from holes.... Reggie][ kits ship 12/1.

The RFP RF Probe Kit
surface mount rf probe kit

QRPme's RF probe kit is about the easiest and simplest smd kit
you can find that also performs a useful task.  Containing only three 1206
sized smd parts and a fully silk screened solder masked circuit board,
the kit is a fast build, and useful too!  Use it to troubleshoot your
malfunctioning QRP kit.  The main difference in our kit and all the others
is the lack of any enclosure or hardware! You creativity is encouraged!
In fact, we are having a little contest with this kit: build the kit &
take a picture of the finished kit and another of the kit inside YOUR
enclosure and send it to QRPme for adding to the 'Great RF Probe Contest'
pages.  The totally unbiased Official Team of Contest Judges will pick 3 winners
using some form of convoluted rules and guidelines that I won't go into here
(mainely 'cause we haven't thunk them up yet!)
and award some truly stupendous prizes!
Small $6 purchase required to enter...

At this price, you can afford to buy more than one and give it away!

THe QRPer's Pocket PAL
Pocket_PAL-IMAGE
Hamfest season is upon us!
The Pocket PAL is a mint tin sized tester for all kinds of hamfest goodies that you can't ordinarily test with a DVM. Several constant current and voltage sources can be used to test panel meters, LEDs, and many other current or voltage driven devices. An on-board oscillator can running at 14.31818 and a divide by 2 circuit can be used for testing oscilliscopes, receivers, frequency meters and other RF devices requiring an RF signal. A Picaxe microprocessor is also on-board and will be programmed to act as a frequency counter with Morse code audio output, and an audio frequency sweep generator for testing headphones, speakers, piezo elements etc. A crystal oscillator ties to the frequency counter circuit for measuring  quartz crystals. The entire assembly and testing process will be published on-line as a group learning project. The software development process will also take place on-line as a series of lessons intended to show how to develop a Picaxe project. The project will begin the first of December.

Numerical Frequency Indicator Kit
NFI kit

Both the TTT and TT2 kits have SIP crystal sockets for quickly changing crystals. Both kits are shipped with a crystal for operating at 7.040Mhz. All the previous incarnations of the Tuna Tin 2 kit also shipped with 7.040Mhz crystals but no crystal socket. Another popular QRP 'watering hole' is 7.030Mhz. The Numerical Frequency Indicator kit solves the dilemma of which frequency to operate: This kit includes a 7.030Mhz crystal  and 'reminder' can label indicating which frequency is 'in use'. Attach the label to a tuna fish can (cat food cans work AOK and are QRP priced), insert the crystal in a QRPme kit and you are 'stomping' in new turf. For older versions of the Tuna Tin 2, carefully unsolder the crystal, insert and solder a 3 pin SIP socket, cut or clean up the old crystal leads and you too can be 'stomping' in new turf.

Price:  $4.00

Numerical RST Indicator Kit
RST kit

When operating in contests using a Two Tinned Tunas or TT2 transmitter, RST reports are a snap using the new Numerical RST Indicator kit from QRPme. This kit provides an easy to read numerical display of the most optimum RST to transmit easily and automatically. Replace the subjective task of determining what RST with the simple procedure of reading a digital display and then transmitting the optimum RST displayed. The RST kit consumes so little power that you can leave it on at all times. For a limited time only, The RST kit is available free of charge! Of course, at this price, you have to supply your own hardware.  Download the file and build it on your locally acquired chassis. 100% guaranteed or double your money back!

Attention all Sudden Storm ][
&
Rexwood 1000W Receiver (using SS][ boards) buiders!
Ryan, G5CL, reports that a couple of errors in the Sudden Storm & Rexwood 1000W receiver kits. If you look carefully at the circuit board traces at C7 & C8 you might find that the traces run right through both leads of each of the capacitors. Check your boards to see if the capacitors are shorted through. (The latest corrected boards have a small ver2 in the silk screen between the potentiometers.) If they are the uncorrected blue boards, cut each trace between the cap leads for signifigant improvement in the audio. Also, the value of C6 should be reduced to something like .027 - .033uf for increased audio levels. If you don't have the necessary cap, please let me know and I'll send you one!

UK BUGS Kit
The UK Bugs Kit
My talk at the GQRP Rishworth Convention was on the Picaxe microprocessor and how easy and fun it is to use it in projects for your QRP bench. I have been selling the Maine BUGS kit for quite a while now, and everyone thinks it is a project that imitates a cricket and lightning bug.....and have skipped over it. Actually the Maine BUGS kit is a neat little kit that is a very inexpensive development system for the Picaxe 08-M micro. The BUGS program is only an example of how much stuff you can shove into the dimuative micro. I have created a new package of parts (UKB) that adds many more parts that can be modded onto the BUGS board to create all kinds of interesting projects including: QRSS keyer,
random character practice
Morse code generator, beacon keyer, timers, temperature controller and many others. The development of the projects will take place in an on-line discussion group that will foster hands-on learning of what the Picaxe microprocessor can do and how to program it.

The UK BUGS kit is $25.00
and the discussion group is free!

This current version is a COMPLETE kit; whereas, the previous versions required additional parts scrounging for connectors, switch etc. This kit comes COMPLETE with all PCB mounted parts: transistors, capacitors, resistors, toroids, magnet wire, crystal, crystal socket and key jack. All chassis mounted parts: RCA jacks, T/R switch and PCB mounting hardware are also included. The kit also contains the solder, hookup wire and sandpaper necessary to complete the construction of the kit. Step by step assembly instructions, with Hi-res pictures are available below. The current label design is shown on the above picture. All holes necessary to mount the connectors, jack and T/R switch are pre-drilled in the can. All the parts come sealed inside a factory fresh tuna can with an easy open pull top lid. This kit is an excellent kit for 'beginners' or 'experts' alike and also makes a perfect gift. Can be assembled in one evening by a 'beginner'. A great conversation piece for every QRPer's bench!
